市民メディアカフェは、英語で行われる「対話イベント」です。時々、通訳もはいります。市民メディアや文化や英語に関心のある方なら、どなたでも是非いらしてください。イベントでは、この6月7月に設置される予定の「G8市民メディアセンター」の通訳・ボランティアの小説明会も行います。 4月19日のゲストは、札幌で英語スクールを営むジェフ・トンプソンさんです。英語や通訳、異文化理解についてみなさんと一緒に話し合いましょう。ジェフさんは、カナダ出身で、ラフカディオ・ハーンの家系を持つ方でもあります。
Citizens Media Cafe is a 'dialogue event' programme which is spoken inEnglish and with Japanese translation from time to time. We welcomeanyone who is interested in Civic Media, cultural understandings andthe English language. There will be a short discussion (meeting) forrecruiting civic translators and volunteers in the Citizens MediaCenter. The Citizens Media Center will be officially established thiscoming June or July. For the event of April 19, 2008 we will have Geoff Thompson, anEnglish teacher running a language school in Sapporo. We will discussissues and tips for translation and cultural understanding. Geoff wasborn in Canada and is a distant descendant of the Lafcadio Hearnfamily background.
